We offer abdominal, thoracic, and global fast ultrasounds for pets, with image acquisition and interpretation assisted by external Sonographers from Oncura. Our veterinarians and certified veterinary technicians are skilled in obtaining high-quality images for accurate diagnostics.
Ultrasounds provide detailed 3D images to visualize internal organs, detect abnormalities, assess blood flow, and guide treatment decisions. While they are highly informative, results may sometimes be inconclusive, necessitating further testing.
We also perform same-day radiographs to complement ultrasound findings.
Ultrasounds are scheduled on weekday mornings. For optimal results, pets should be fasted for 12 hours, as sedation may be needed but is minimized when possible. Pets will be dropped off for the procedure, and timely arrival is crucial for Sonographer assistance.
The procedure may take several hours, and your pet can go home afterward. Results are typically available within a week, though urgent cases may receive a stat report sooner.
Here is a list of conditions and issues we can look for using ultrasounds:
- Biopsies and Aspirations: Guide needles for tissue sampling or fluid aspiration for more accurate diagnoses.
- Bladder Issues: Detect bladder stones, tumors, or abnormalities in the bladder wall.
- Fluid Detection: Detect free fluid in the abdomen, which could indicate bleeding, infection, or other issues.
- Gastrointestinal Issues: Identify foreign bodies, thickening of the intestinal walls, or other abnormalities.
- Kidney Health: Assess the size, shape, and structure of the kidneys.
- Lymph Nodes: Evaluate for enlargement or abnormalities, which can indicate infection or cancer.
- Masses: Differentiate between cystic and solid masses, aiding in the diagnosis of tumors or abscesses.
- Organ Assessment: Evaluate the liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, and bladder for abnormalities such as tumors, cysts, or stones.
- Reproductive Health: Diagnose pregnancy, ovarian cysts, or uterine issues.
