Labwork

At our clinic, we collect blood, urine, and other samples for labwork to ensure thorough and accurate diagnostics.

While we utilize external laboratories for the majority of our panels, we also offer in-house testing for acute concerns and urgent cases where timely results are crucial. Our in-house testing capabilities include:

  • CBC (Complete Blood Count): Evaluates overall health and detects a variety of disorders, including anemia, infection, and many other diseases.
  • Chemistry Panel: Assesses organ function, including the liver, kidneys, and pancreas, and checks for conditions such as diabetes and liver disease.
  • Cortisol Test: Measures cortisol levels to help diagnose and monitor conditions like Cushing's disease and Addison's disease.
  • Electrolytes: Measures levels of essential minerals and salts, which are vital for many body functions, including hydration and muscle function.
  • Fecal Centrifuge Testing: Detects intestinal parasites by concentrating and examining eggs and cysts in a fecal sample.
  • Pancreatic Lipase (fPL/cPL): Diagnoses pancreatitis in cats (fPL) and dogs (cPL) by measuring the levels of pancreatic enzymes.
  • pro-BNP: Measures levels of a protein associated with heart function, helping to detect heart disease.
  • Fructosamine: Provides an average blood glucose level over the past 2-3 weeks, aiding in the management of diabetes.
  • Skin Scraping: Identifies skin parasites, infections, and other dermatological conditions.
  • Thyroxine (T4): Tests thyroid function to diagnose and monitor thyroid diseases.
  • Urine Analysis: Evaluates the components of urine to diagnose kidney disease, urinary tract infections, and other metabolic disorders.
  • Cytology: Examines cells from ears or fine needle aspirates of growths to detect infections, inflammation, or cancer.

By offering these in-house tests, we can quickly address urgent health concerns and begin appropriate treatments without delay. For more comprehensive panels, we rely on our trusted external laboratories to provide detailed and accurate results, ensuring your pet receives the best possible care.
